Not even the threat of midmorning rain or afternoon thunderstorms could dampen the enthusiasm of 170 golfers who flocked to the Apo Golf and Country Club on Saturday, April 26, 2025, for the 3rd Ateneo Blue Knight Association (ABKA) Golf Tournament. With improved greens and fairways setting the stage, players showered the course with pars and birdies, showcasing their skill and dedication.
EJ Casintahan successfully defended his crown with a commanding 5-under-par 67, equivalent to an impressive 41 PAL points, earning the title of Overall Gross Champion. Meanwhile, Team GS90/Batch 94—composed of Karlos Alba, Jeff Ramirez, Jericho Santos, Glenn Enginco, and Gil Jalandoni—combined their efforts to score 185 points, securing the coveted ABKA Alumni Loyalty Cup perpetual trophy. The team will hold onto the trophy until next year’s tournament.
Adding to the team’s success, Glenn Enginco (Hdcp 20) claimed the Overall Net Champion title with a stellar 46 points.
Tournament Director Ken Libron expressed gratitude to all participants during the award and fellowship night, stating, “We are overwhelmed by the support for the 3rd edition of this annual event. We hope you’ll join us again next year. Maraming Salamat po.”
The tournament also celebrated individual excellence across various divisions:
Class A Division: Top Gun Oying Caturan (33) clinched the Gross crown, while his teammate Reinz Yamyamin (32) took second place. Fraz Pasquil (41) and Sim Gonzalez (36) claimed the Net champion and runner-up spots.
Class B Division: Cocoy Alimes (29) secured the Gross champion title, with Enzo Magno (27) as runner-up. Jun Tesado (39) edged out Atty Ken Dabi by a single point to win the Net title.
Class C Division: Jericho Santos (26) and Rey Olita (46) split the Gross and Net champion titles, while Jorich Alticamara (20) and Pete Lorenzana (44) rounded out the podium as runners-up.
Seniors Division: John Servillon (27) triumphed over Paul Dacudao (26) to win the Gross crown, while Alex Buyco (44) and Jerry Leonor (43) took the Net champion and runner-up honors, respectively.
Ladies Division: Rising jungolf sensation Johann Blair UyKing (26) earned the Ladies Gross title, with Dr. Tina
Bandolon (19) as runner-up. Mikaela De Leon (41) and Marilou Rebaya (37) captured the Net champion and runner-up titles.
The event wasn’t just about golf—it was also about giving back. Proceeds from the tournament will support ABKA’s scholarship program and an IP community project in the hinterlands of Marilog District, Davao City.
