World amateur ranking points are at stake in the Junior Philippine Golf Tour (JPGT) which kicks off on April 8 at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
The 15-leg tour features three age divisions, namely 7-10, 11-14, and 15-18.
Shinichi Suzuki and Charles Serdenia, who will join the annual San Diego event this July, banner the boys’ 15-18 division. Also competing are elite players Alonso Espartero, Alonso Corpus, John Paul Agustin, Jr. and Kristoffer Nadales.
In the girls’ 15-18 bracket are Precious Zaragosa, Tiffany Bernardino, Rafa Anciano and Jada Santiago.
Sarines twins Lisa and Mona will be challenged by Arielle Espartero and Eliana Dumalaog in the girls’ 11-14 division, while leading the boys’ division are Vito Sarines and Race Manhit.
Promising players Venus delos Santos and Mavis Espedido headline the girls’ 7-10 division while Jesus Yambao and Zoji Edoc lead the boys’ division.
To ensure balanced regional representation, the series is split into North and VisMin legs, with players only allowed to compete in the region tied to their residence or birthplace.
The North Series continues at Sherwood Hills on April 22-24 and Splendido Taal from April 28-30.
The VisMin leg starts in Cebu on May 5 to 7, followed by events in Negros Occidental and Bacolod later in May.
The tour, launched by ICTSI in 2023 and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., will be capped by the North vs South Elite Finals from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 at The Country Club. (PNA)
