Mise, Reyes top individual honors at the 10th UPLB Loyalty Golf Cup

The 10th edition of the UPLB Loyalty Golf Cup concluded on a spectacular Saturday afternoon at the South Pacific Golf and Country Club, highlighted by a dramatic finish in the race for the Overall Gross crown.

Veteran golfer and scratch player RekRek Mise clinched the Overall Gross Championship title, posting an impressive 58 Molave points—equivalent to a 4-under-par 68—to edge out businessman Addy Briones by a single stroke. The turning point came on the challenging par-5 18th hole, where Briones, who was 5-under heading into the final hole, suffered a costly double bogey. Though it denied him the overall title, Briones still secured the Class A crown with a comfortable margin.

Sharing the spotlight on the winner’s podium was Vince Reyes, who captured the Overall Net title with a stellar score of 66 Molave net points.

“When we started this tournament 12 years ago, it was just a small fellowship of golfers commemorating Loyalty Day, which we celebrate every October at UPLB. But look at us now—we’re backed by 175 strong golfers, and we’re truly grateful,” said Mike Santos, President of the UPLB Alumni Association Davao Chapter.

In the highly competitive Class A division, Kenneth Libron tallied 62 Molave net points to claim the Net Division title over Manfred Lawas (60). Jerry Campaner joined the winners’ circle with a gross score of 53 points, earning Gross Runner-Up honors.
