Alex Eala Blazes Into World No. 31 After Dubai Shockwave

Alex Eala is rewriting her own limits — and the WTA is starting to feel the tremors.

The 20‑year‑old Filipina sensation rocketed to a new career‑high World No. 31, a massive leap fueled by her fearless run at the Dubai Tennis Championships. Just a week ago she was at No. 47. Now she’s sitting comfortably inside the sport’s top tier, rising faster than anyone expected.

Her surge was ignited by a headline‑stealing upset in Dubai, where she dismantled World No. 8 Jasmine Paolini, 6‑1, 7‑6 (5), in a performance that announced — loudly — that she belongs among the elite.

With momentum roaring behind her, Eala now sets her sights on the WTA 1000 double punch: Indian Wells and the Miami Open, two of the biggest battlegrounds outside the Grand Slams.

Indian Wells runs from March 4–15, followed by Miami from March 17–29 — tournaments where the sport’s giants collide. Eala is expected to share the stage with a powerhouse lineup featuring Paolini, Mirra Andreeva, Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova, Elina Svitolina, and rising force Victoria Mboko.
