Under the sprawling canopy of the South Pacific Golf course, the Philippine Army demonstrated that their tactical precision isn’t reserved for the parade ground. In a high-stakes finale to the PAL Interclub Legacy division, the Army Men held their nerve to secure the prestigious title, fending off a spirited late-game charge from local favorites.
The tournament’s defining narrative was written by Charles Serdenia. An incoming freshman at Southern Utah University, Serdenia showcased the poise of a seasoned professional rather than a junior golfer. On the final day, he steered the Army’s campaign with a clinical one-over-par 35 points, a performance that served as the bedrock for the team’s final tally of 436 points.
While the Army celebrated at the top, a fierce battle for the remaining podium spots was brewing just behind them. Zamboanga Golf put up a valiant effort, ultimately claiming the runner-up position with 427 points, finishing nine points shy of the leaders.
However, the day’s most electric atmosphere surrounded Rancho Palos Verdes Gold. Playing on home soil, the local squad mounted a breathtaking final-day “charge” that saw them rack up an incredible 103 points. Led by the heroics of Jerico Bajo, who carded a brilliant 30 points, the team refused to back down. Vincent Arenas contributed a vital 25, while the duo of Ninot Galicia and Jong Tan added a pair of 24s to the scorecard. While their late-round heroics fell just two points short of Zamboanga, their 425-point total was more than enough to secure a hard-fought third-place finish.
The rest of the Davao-based contingent was on full display at the leaderboard. Illana Bay Golf showcased consistent play to finish in 5th position with 396 points, while South Pacific Team A rounded out the local presence in the top ten, securing 9th place with a total of 371.
