South Pacific Team B moved within striking distance of a definitive breakaway in the Friendship Division, widening its lead to a commanding 19 points after a stellar performance at the fabled Apo Golf and Country Club.
The squad posted a solid 78-point round, anchored by the dual-engine scoring of Abraham Lacaya and John Pascual, who both carded 21s. The leaders were ably supported by the steady hands of Bonbon So and Pedro Lorenzana, who contributed 18 points apiece.
While South Pacific surged, Paraiso Golf Players Association of Koronadal, South Cotabato, struggled to keep pace. Mustering only 73 points for the day, Paraiso sits in the second spot with a two-day total of 133. They do, however, hold a comfortable 16-point cushion over the third-place Golden Gate Golf team, which ended the second day with a total of 117.
In the Sportswriters Division, Liloan has successfully distanced itself from the pack. Entering a scheduled break before hostilities resume on Friday, Liloan sits atop the leaderboard with a three-day total of 250.
The real drama now lies in the scramble for the remaining podium spots. Only six points separate second from fourth place: Dole Kalsangi currently holds second with 226 points, clinging to a narrow one-point lead over Davao City FTB (225). Paoay Golf remains a dangerous threat in fourth position with 220 points.
In the premiere Championship Division, the Davao-laden Eastridge squad continued their relentless attack, proving they are the team to beat on their home soil. The squad dismantled the Apo course with a massive 148-point second day, bringing their two-day total to a formidable 293.
The charge was led by Bobe Salahog, who turned in a spectacular 4-under par performance for 40 points. Local standout Chris Remata followed closely with a 2-under par (38 points), matched by Ronnel Tagaan’s own 38. The team’s depth was further showcased by AJ Wacan and Ralph Batican, who both registered 33s.
This offensive explosion has pushed Eastridge’s lead to 19 points over the powerhouse Manila Southwoods. Southwoods struggled to find their rhythm, managing only 126 points on day two for a 274 total. Trailing the leaders by 43 points, Tagaytay Highlands and Del Monte Club find themselves locked in a tie for third place with 250 points each.
