CFC North B Friendship Golf: A Day of Aces and Fellowship

The second edition of the CFC North B Friendship Golf concluded on a high note this past Friday, May 14, 2026, at the Veterans Golf and Country Club in Quezon City. Supported by a vibrant community of CFC members, corporate partners, and friends, the event was hailed as a resounding success, blending competitive sport with a deeper mission of service.

Blessed with perfect weather, participants enjoyed a seamless day of play on the fairways followed by a warm afternoon of fellowship at the Veterans clubhouse.

The competition saw tight leaderboards and impressive displays of skill, but the day’s top honors were decided by the narrowest of margins.

• Overall Net Champion: James Cruz secured the title in a thrilling finish. Both Cruz and Chito Malabanan finished with impressive scores, but Cruz’s two birdies proved to be the tiebreaker, allowing him to edge out the competition despite finishing 7-over par.

• Class A Champion: Chito Malabanan, who carded a stellar 75 with one birdie, settled with the Class A crown instead after a hard-fought round.

• Local Mainstay: Romjay Ignacio defended his crown by taking again the Lowest gross crown with a two over par 72.

The definitive highlight of the tournament however belonged to Rommel Latinazo. In a rare feat that electrified the field, Latinazo carded a hole-in-one on Hole No. 13.

He used a Cleveland 6-iron and a Srixon 3 ball to find the cup in a single stroke, cementing his place in the tournament’s history.

Beyond the trophies, the tournament served a higher purpose. A significant portion of its proceeds is dedicated to:

1. CFC Evangelization Activities: Supporting the global mission of Couples for Christ.

2. ANGKOP Program: Providing educational assistance and scholarships to underprivileged students.

This tournament is more than just a game; it’s a testament to what we can achieve when we gather in friendship for a common cause.

The event culminated in a festive awarding ceremony led by Tournament Director Jake Ayson and various CFC officials. Winners were presented with trophies, and many participants walked away with exciting raffle prizes, marking a perfect end to a day of “golf with a heart.”
