Davao del Norte First Lady Milagros “Inday” Del Rosario took the center stage this time when she received the prestigious “The World Mother of Davao del Norte” title.
The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University conferred the award in recognition of the quiet but outstanding contributions of Mrs. Del Rosario to the youth of the province and her dynamism in creating a positive change in our society.
Brahma Kumaris is an international non-governmental organization that seeks to strengthen the ability of people to live by their own higher nature and improve their contribution to society through spiritual education and reflective practices.
Sisters Sheilu and Rajni of the Brahma Kumaris presented the trophy and bouquet of virtues to her, assisted by Provincial Council of Women President and Moral Recovery Program Coordinator Providencia Nunez, during the meditative ceremony dubbed as “Change is my Choice” at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan last August 14, 2009.
Gov. Rodolfo Del Rosario expressed his deepest joy for witnessing the love of his life, Madame Inday, being honored with the humble title “The World Mother of Davao del Norte”.
He lovingly acknowledged his wife as the shining beam in their home, attesting her being worthy of the noble title and honor.
“My loving wife Inday is the source of inspiration for all of us. Her gentle arms are the safest refuge that this warrior can rely on, in times of retreat and setbacks. Her firm mind is the yardstick that guided our children to be on the right path always; and so I can truly attest her being worthy of this noble title and honor,” the governor shared.
Sister Sheilu, Senior Faculty Member of the Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University in Rajasthan , India , stressed the importance of developing good virtues and values-based attitudes that creates a practical spirituality which enhances personal effectiveness in the workplace and in family life.
“Values create a valuable life. Without values, your life will be valueless,” she said.
On the same occasion, ten youth leaders around the province were also conferred the Culture of Excellence Youth Ambassadors awards.
The award recognized the outstanding dynamism of the young leaders in creating a positive change in society by integrating values in their life shining as an inspiration to others and the communities they serve.
The honorees include Sheila Suarez of Asuncion; Reymart Nunez of B.E. Dujali; Anthony Rebamonte of Carmen, Pete Mitchell Gepita of New Corella; Julie Sandy Tamayo of Kapalong; Jessie Henry Castillo, Jr. of Panabo City; Stacy Umali of IGACOS; Bibedel Librado of San Isidro; Criztal Jade Warain of Sto. Tomas; and, Christine Joy Alvarez of Tagum City.
Gov. Del Rosario cautioned the youth to be wary about the advent of information revolution and hedonistic consumerism that may lead them to be astray and become slaves of the material world.
“As early as now, the youth must learn to master their wants through spiritual transformation. Because when the youth are beholden to material wealth, they are not far removed from the possibility of becoming corrupt leaders someday,” the governor said.
He encouraged the youth to rule this temporary world with strong moral values, as “it is moral strength and spiritual fortitude that matter most.”
The project was made possible in coordination with the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, Provincial Council of Women, Sangguniang Kabataan and the Department of Education.
