While divisiveness and discord brought about by the early election fever increasingly bug national leaders and local officials, provincial officials of Davao del Norte have firmed up their unity and teamwork in advancing the gains of development.
Governor Rodolfo Del Rosario boasted about the mounting unity of the provincial officials when he hosted a banquet at the Tahanan ng Punong Lalawigan in honor of Vice Governor Victorio Suaybaguio, who celebrated his 68th birthday on August 26, 2009.
He said even as the national leaders and local officials in other provinces are seemingly becoming more and more divided, “we in the province of Davao del Norte have strengthened our unity and cooperation for the benefit of the people.”
Suaybaguio expressed his gratitude to the governor for throwing the dinner party for him, which was attended by all the board members, the mayors and department heads of the provincial government.
Del Rosario hosted the déjeuner in celebration of renewed unity after Suaybaguio reiterated his all-out support to the governor and his programs.
Rumors had it that the relationship between the two somewhat went sour when speculations about Suaybaguio’s alleged falling out from the governor spread like wildfire the past months.
In a published news article, Suaybaguio categorically declared that he will seek reelection as Vice Governor and will support in no uncertain terms Gov. Del Rosario in order to end speculations and intrigues.
“The truth of the matter is that we were never separated,” the vice governor told guests at the Tahanan.
He made certain he and the governor are always bonding with each other in trying to carry out the programs and thrusts of the provincial government, particularly the governor’s RDR Wheels agenda.
Del Rosario said he is grateful for the support of Suaybaguio.
“I always consider him part of the team and this can be shown by the fact that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan which he presides has always supported all the measures necessary to push the provincial government programs,” he told a local paper.
Chief Executive Assistant Anthony Del Rosario said it is just normal to have some sort of misunderstanding in any kind of relationship. But, what is important, according to him, “is how you get past your understandings.”
