Davao Norte pilot area of ECCD services survey

DAVAO  del  Norte  will become the pilot area of a survey to determine the state of day care  services.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office chief Arlene Semblante yesterday revealed that preparation is underway to run the survey in Davao del Norte as the pilot area.
Former Senator Teresita Aquino-Oreta, chairperson of the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Council picked Davao del Norte during a Mindanao-wide orientation/briefing early this month, Semblante said .
A national paper report said that ECCD Council will be conducting the survey to determine the state of government daycare centers and to know the qualifications of the people running them. 
While checking the capabilities their capabilities to teach children of four to six years of age, the survey will also determine the daycare workers’ “competencies, conditions and personal circumstances,”  Oreta was quoted as saying.
Davao del Norte established 440 daycare centers which were being given focus when the provincial government took on  the concern  for children through implementing  the ECCD program since three years ago.
Semblante didn’t have an idea how Oreta picked up Davao del Norte as the pilot area but she said it could be because the province had done well in terms of ECCD implementation. [PIA XI/JMDAbangan]
