Tagum braces for disasters

Combined with planning and workshop, the Tagum City government, led by Mayor Rey T. Uy, conducted a two-day disaster assessment activity at Mikos Brew.
A total of one hundred forty five (145) public servants from local and national government agencies, department heads (LGU Tagum), Department of Public Works and Highways, Phil. National Red Cross, City Disaster Coordinating Council), Tagum barangay officials, Sangguniang Kabataan chairmen, non-government organizations and the local police, participated in the short notice emergency caucus of key government personnel of the city.
“The disaster assessment will lead to a better disaster management preparation. It will minimize the ill-effects of natural calamities that might cause loss of lives, destruction of properties, and environmental damage if mitigating measures are not  established,” said Mayor Uy.
The workshop included the sharing of opinions, heated discussions and presentation of flood-prone areas. The disaster preparedness campaign is expected to reduce fear and anxiety among  Tagum residents. [CIO TAGUM]
