The KALAHI-CIDSS Program or Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services has completed 190 community projects in two towns of Davao del Norte and four other municipalities in the region.
KALAHI-CIDSS regional project manager and DSWD assistant director Priscilla Nidea-Razon said KALAHI-CIDSS was implemented in Sto. Tomas and Talaingod in Davao Del Norte, Tarragona and Manay in Davao Oriental, and Laak and Mabini in Compostela Valley.
Nidea-Razon said among the community projects prioritized and implemented through the KALAHI-CIDSS community-driven development process are potable water system, road rehabilitation, tribal housing, health station, corn mill, multi-purpose training center, rural irrigation system, day care center, community library, bridge, and rural electrification. “These projects cost P210.99 million, of which P77.24 million or 37% is local government counterpart,” she said.
KALAHI-CIDSS is one of the national government’s anti-poverty projects implemented by DSWD since 2003. It aims to boost the decision-making power of local communities, strengthen their involvement in local development planning, and mobilize local government units and community resources to implement community projects that reduce poverty.
