RDR cites role of brgy. tanods

Governor Rodolfo del Rosario underscored the role of barangay tanods in the peace and order efforts of the government, citing their big help in the successful campaign against criminality in the countryside.
“You are truly important to our thrust of securing our communities,” the governor stressed as he outlined the role of the tanods in the fight against crime.
As frontrunner in the peace and order efforts, the tanods, according to Del Rosario, are a big help in the successful campaign against crime in the province.
He said he has put peace and order among the top priorities of his administration in order to prevent uncertain security situations that could adversely affect the implementation of crucial programs and basic services.
“Unsaon nato ang mga nindot nga tulay ug farm-to-market roads, water system, kuryente, covered courts ug uban pang proyekto, kung ang katawhan dili luwas sa ilang mga komyunidad (what’s the use of basic infrastructure projects if our people are not safe in their communities),” he stressed, during the last leg of the turn-over of barangay tanod uniforms and batons for District 2 in B.E. Dujali town.
Gov. Del Rosario explained he has included peace and order in his comprehensive RDR WHEELS development agenda to shield the development momentum of the province.
The governor has given out uniforms and batons to a total of 2,600 barangay tanods in the second district of Davao del Norte. He personally led in most of the turn-over ceremonies in various towns.
The distribution of uniforms and batons among the tanods in the first district is scheduled to start this month.
However, Gov. Del Rosario cautioned the local auxiliary peace corps to use their authority in ensuring peace and order in the communities and not to abuse the rights of the constituents.
“Ang inyong baton ug uniform inyong gamiton sa kaayuhan kay nagsimbolo kana sa inyong gahum sa pagbantay sa kalinaw sa barangay (Use your authority properly in implementing peace and order in the barangay,” he told the local peacekeepers.
He asked them to serve the public with utmost courtesy, respect, and loyalty.
Yet, while they perform their peace-keeping duties, Del Rosario directed them to also help explain to the people the gains and achievement of our government in addressing social welfare issues like poverty, illiteracy and health.
