For their exceptional facilitation of em-ployment services for the poor, the Province of Davao del Norte and four of its local government units bagged the Best PESO (Public Employment Service Office) awards in the region.
Davao del Norte received seven top recognitions out of the 13 awards given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-XI to top performing PESOs.
The awards were handed over by DOLE-11 regional director Atty. Jalilo dela Torre during the awarding rites held earlier this month at the Apo View Hotel, Davao City .
The recognitions included the hall of famer awards to Tagum City and Panabo City, as well as Best PESO awards to the Province of Davao del Norte, the Island Garden City of Samal and the municipality of Braulio E. Dujali .
Best PESO awards were also given to the Academe Special Programs of the University of Mindanao-Tagum City College (Career Guidance/PESLA) and to the Sto. Mary’s College (Self-Employment).
Tagum City earlier bagged the 2009 National “Best PESO Award” given by the DOLE during the 9th National PESO Congress at the Oxford Hotel, Clark Field, Pampanga on October 7-9, 2009.
Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario attributed the award to the untiring effort of the PESO personnel of the province and its various LGUs, along with the support of the business community, private companies, among other stakeholders in creating job opportunities for unemployed Dabaonons during these challenging times.
Provincial PESO coor-dinator Gloria Excelsa Pamugas reenacted the awarding rites during a recent convocation program at the Bulwagan, with the theme “Pay It Forward, and It Pays Back”.
Del Rosario’s inspirationl words to the Capitol employees were: “Christ-centeredness is key to a happy life.  Whoever lives in God does not look behind him, but forward. Whoever is alive in spirit does not look backward – be it over the short span of his own life or the greater span of history – to find a realization of his longings.”
