DavNor bats for greater public support for revenue collection

Instead of whining about taxation, people should start paying their taxes to help government provide better services and infrastructures to the communities.
Constituents must do their share in raising revenue to support the implementation of programs and projects that aim to uplift the quality of life of the people and make the local economy attractive to investors, according to Davao del Norte provincial assessor Engr. Joyce Gualberto.
“Rather than complaining, I ask our people to pay their taxes promptly and religiously to generate additional revenue needed to improve the delivery of basic services to the communities,” she said.  
Gualberto said the province is implementing the general revision of real property assessment fixing the schedule of market value of real property taxes within the municipalities of Davao del Norte which took effect last year.
She added that the province employed a consultative process in setting up an efficient revenue generation system that promotes transparency and accountability, and helps ensure greater public support for local revenue collection.
Gualberto said her office is conducting ocular inspections throughout the province to determine whether all real properties are properly declared and appraised to its current and fair market value in accordance with the revised schedule. 
Governor Rodolfo del Rosario is optimistic Davao del Norte’s performance in revenue collection last year would surpass the previous year’s accomplishment where the province posted an increase of 12.7 percent.
While asking the provincialtTreasurer’s office to double its effort in collecting revenue, he also urged his constituents to pay their obligations to raise enough resources for the province.
He said these are needed in order to assure the province is able to provide basic services to the people and implement all the programs and projects included in the comprehensive RDR WHEELS development agenda of the governor.
Revenue collected enables the province to faithfully pay its loans, particularly the multi-million stimulus fund that it borrowed from the Land Bank for the implementation of 338 projects in all the barangays.  
Del Rosario, assisted by Gualberto and Vice Gov. Victorio Suaybaguio, distributed motorcycle and aircon units to the municipalities of Sto. Tomas, Kapalong, Asuncion and Carmen during the most recent Monday convocation program at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan in Tagum City.
