Davao del Norte joins SMED Week

Davao del Norte joined the 2010 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development (MSMED) Week in observance of the significant role the MSME sector plays in the country’s economic growth.
The Department of Trade and Industry’s Davao del Norte field office spearheaded the week-long event from July 5-10, 2010, on the theme, “Negosyo: Tagumpay Mula sa Kahirapan.”
Part of the the week-long celebration was the conduct of free entrepreneurial and technical skills briefing sessions aimed at inspiring both the starting and actual entrepreneurs to grow their own businesses.
DTI provincial director Nenita Nazareno bared the activities lineup for the weeklong celebration aimed at harmonizing efforts in improving the local investment climate for MSMEs.
The activities included the BEST game training (business skills development tool); seminars on food processing; OTOP financing forum cum business matching; National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) orientation; turn-over of common service facility (food processing equipment) to the Food Processors Association of Davao del Norte and Chokolate de San Isidro; products display at the Pasalubong Center; virtual marketing; and, Gabay sa Pagnenegosyo Film Showing.
Nazareno said the country’s MSMEs, which comprise 99% of domestic businesses, remain a priority of the new administration as they are key to the government’s undertakings on poverty alleviation.
