Congressman Anthony del Rosario is expected to be back soon from his furlough in the United States to attend to the needs of his first district constituents in Davao del Norte.
AGR, as he is often referred to, is in the United States to undergo medical treatment for his relapsed lymphoma.
Doctors at the Stanford Cancer Center in San Francisco , California had required the congressman to go through three to four chemo treatments and to undergo a stem cell transplant procedure within six-months.
His father Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario, said that at the rate the congressman is taking his chemo sessions, AGR may complete the treatment ahead of schedule.
“He’s on his second chemo treatment and he sounded to be more than normal,” the beaming governor told media before flying to the US to join his son.
The traditional week-long celebration of the governor’s birthday on September 1 has been cancelled.
The governor said that, based on several scans, doctors found the irregularities in the lymph nodes of AGR disappearing, which might warrant shorter treatment.
Before leaving for the US in July, AGR appointed his younger brother, Rafael del Rosario (Raffy), chief of staff, and to deliver the kind of public service that AGR had promised his people.
“I am here to ensure that his projects will push forward,” Raffy told members of local media, referring to an all-encompassing health program, road and rural infrastructure, financial and technical support for MSMEs, OFW assistance, educational reforms, water, electricity and housing development, agri-forestry and ecotourism programs, moral recovery and development of human resources through skills training and livelihood programs, and AGR’s pledge to allot P1-million to every barangay of the first district.
Raffy also bared the plan to launch a People’s Day in order to bring the services of the congressional office closer to the people.
