Davao alliance for tourism inked for unified tourism promotions

Secretary Alberto A. Lim, DOT Secretary was encouraged by the show of private sector support for Tourism in Davao City. The twelve member association- alliance inked a Memorandum of Agreement witnessed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Secretary Lim, DOT Undersecretary Simeon Marfori, II and Tourism Congress President, Alma Jimenez.
The Davao City Alliance is a 12-organization member composed of the Davao Region Tourism Council, Davao Tourism Association, Davao Association of Tour Operators, Davao Travel Agencies Association, Naitas-Davao, Davao Cooperative Center for Visitors and Conventions, Skal Club International- Davao, Guide-Davao, Hotel Sales and Marketing Association-Davao, Small Hotels Association of Davao, ICT-Davao, and Davao Airline Operators Association.
These 12 key tourism organizations agreed to work hand in hand for tourism promotions under one promotional plan and consolidate all the efforts of the each organization into one Davao branding. Each organization shall heed one goal direction for the tourism program of Davao thus the alignment of each group’s objectives.
The MOA intensifies as well the relationships among the stakeholders especially the prime movers of the City Tourism thus widening their network and strengthens ties amongst them.
One of the alliance concrete projects is the Make it Davao Campaign launched by the group early this year with e-marketing as a platform for promotions through their website www.makeitdavao.com. Tour packages can be downloaded from the said site courtesy of the Davao Tour Operations Association (DATO) aside from the inventory of destinations and services. The site will soon be upgraded to serve mice organizers as well.
One major achievement of the alliance is the recently concluded Philippine Travel Mart where Davao was awarded Best City Booth and People’s Choice Award.
