Governor Rodolfo del Rosario has committed support of the province of Davao del Norte for the department of social welfare and development’s (DSWD) convergence strategy in implementing the social protection and poverty reduction programs of the national government.
The DSWD convergence strategy harmonizes the government’s three major pro-poor programs, namely: Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K), and the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS).
Del Rosario signed the pledge of commitment during the launch of the program at the Capitol Ceremonial Hall i Mankilam, Tagum City last May 4.
The governor made the declaration of support in the presence of DSWD-11 regional director Ester A. Versoza and provincial social welfare and development (PSWD) officer Arlene Semblante, together with the regional and local convergence teams and coordinators.
Del Rosario said DSWD program will definitely create better poverty reduction efforts for the less fortunate people of the province.
He acknowledged the strategy as a huge investment in the human capital of the province, providing a big boost to his administration’s human-centered development agenda known as P.E.O.P.L.E.
Del Rosario immediately named the community affairs officer of the Capitol as the provincial focal person who will complement the DSWD staff and help monitor the implementation of the program in the province.
He also assured to provide office space with fixtures for the DSWD convergence team members assigned to Davao del Norte, adding that he would dged issue an Executive Order formalizing the partnership with the DSWD, along with the policy action/directives to ensure that the supply side will be provided by the province to support the implementation of the 4Ps and the SEA-K in the province.
Dir. Versoza said the DSWD will pour in a total of P411,206,879 for various poverty alleviation projects this year, to include the 4Ps, SEA-K, Kalahi-CIDSS, social pension, supplementary feeding and cash for work.
She explained that the convergence strategy aims to maximize the impact of the department’s poverty reduction programs through an effective targeting system and a holistic community development approach.
