ComVal pre-school mentors get Musical Letter Sounds training

In time for the school opening of School Year 2011-2012, Governor Arturo T. Uy and Congresswoman Maricar Zamora Apsay sponsored the Musical Letter Sounds Training Program for pre-school teachers last May 26-28 for District II and on June 2-4, 2011 for District I.
Preschool education or Infant education is the provision of education for children before the commencement of statutory and obligatory education, usually between three or five years old, depending on the level of mental development of the child.
Letter sounds have been used for preschool alphabet activities, teaching basic phonics rules, teaching phonics to pre-schoolers, phonological awareness activities for preschool children, and phonics for beginners. Phonics instruction is effective for learning important rules about the structure of words. Letter sounds are essential to developing fluency in reading.
The training was facilitated by teacher Rossa Charissa “Chari”  Gavino, school director of Center for Bright Beginnings. It is a pre-school which provides high quality standard for early mental development of a child.
The training was timely for all pre-school teachers, and a very helpful tool in preparation for the school opening. Teachers were taught how to teach effectively and efficiently even without enough instructional materials.
A pre-school teacher from Laak said she was very thankful that they were provided with the training. According to her, it was very helpful, especially because she is teaching IP children.  “It is really hard for me to let the children learn the basics in beginning reading, I am so happy that we were given training like this because this will really help me. The instructional materials and the CD’s will help us teachers in our everyday activities in school,” she added.
Governor Uy and Congresswoman Apsay providrd quality education to all children of the province, in the belief that “we can never build the future for our children, but we can always build our children for the future”. [Rodielyn A. Manugas-IDS ComVal]
