Rousing cheers welcomed the emergence of a new champion in this year’s highly-anticipated Cheerdance Competition last September 7, 2012 at the New City Hall Atrium which was participated by the employees of the City Government of Tagum as one of the highlight events in the observance of 112th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service.
Cluster 2 claimed this year’s top prize with a cash incentive of 50,000 pesos, following the trail left by the Mayor’s Griffin Team which did not participate in the contest as the team already clinched the Hall of Fame Award after winning for three consecutive years in the same competition.
Cluster 2 is composed of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Budget Office, Commission on Audit, City Vice Mayor’s Office, Sannguniang Panglungsod Legislative and Secretariat, City Investment and Promotions Office and City Sports Office.
The team also grabbed the Darling of the Crowd Award worth 10,000 pesos after the team exposed their biggest surprise that night – the participation of the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod – that got the crowd standing on its feet.
City Human Resource Management Officer Edna J. Quilario, whose office spearheaded the said event, expressed that this event is anchored on the prime goal of fostering the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie among participating employees as well as in promoting healthy lifestyle among them.
Trailing behind Cluster 2 is Cluster 3 which is composed of the City Agriculture Office, City Veterinary Office, City General Services Office, City Architect Office, City Assessor’s Office, Bids and Awards Committee Secretariat, City Engineering Office-New City Hall Site and Industrial Plant Division.
Cluster 3 went home 40,000 pesos richer for clinching the 1st runner up award with additional 10,000 pesos for the Best in Costume Award.
The 2nd Runner Up Award with 30,000 pesos cash prize was won by Cluster 5 composing of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, Commission on Election, City Health Office, City Engineering Office-Electrical Division, Special Community Development Program Division/Public Employment Service Office, Community Affairs Office, CEO-Motorpool Division, Health and Sanitation Services and the Traffic Management Unit.
