Four persons, including a policewoman and an alleged Moro Islamic Liberation Front member, were arrested Sunday in a buy-bust operation conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Supt. Felimon Ruiz, PDEA-ARMM regional director, said the raid was conducted after a week-long surveillance jointly conducted by elements of the police, Army and PDEA agents in Pacoma, Barangay Poblacion 2, Parang, Maguindanao.
Ruiz identified the the arrested suspects as Police Officer 1 Norhaya Madraza Sulayman alias Tata, 29; Sammy Macapantao, 38, an alleged member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front; Charito Carim, and Akmad Sarigan.
The suspects did not resist arrest when lawmen, backed by the military surrounded Pacoma, a residential area used as drug den by illegal drug operators.
The raiding team, according to Ruiz, seized about 50 sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu.”
The suspects will be charged with the following charges: violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Equipment, Instrument, Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act 8294 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition.
Last month, PDEA-ARMM and elements of the Army’s 68th Infantry Battalion, also raided Pacoma and arrested 36 persons who were caught holding a pot session inside the drug den. [PNA]
