Expanding to 320 slots this year, the City Government of Tagum through the Public Employment Services Office aims to assist young jobseekers get a better shot in life with the third implementation wave of JobStart Philippines.
PESO Tagum kicked off the four-day registration for the applicants last July 18, 2017 which will end Friday, July 21.
With the help from various participating business outfits in the city, the program aims to aid the jobseekers in improving their job training and skills. The office opened 320 slots for the program participants which is more than twice the slots when it first started on April 2014.
The chosen participants of the said program will undergo three phases of trainings that may last from 5-8 months depending on their performance.
The first phase is the Life Skills Training which will help them during interview, constructing of resume or application letter, and personality enhancement. The second phase is the Technical Skills wherein they will be taught how to perform the job that they chose.The third phase is the Internship (OJT) on the chosen company that would determine if they would be absorbed as regular employees. In addition, they will receive Php 200.00 pesos training allowance every day during the first phase and Php 255.00 pesos in every 15 days during the second and third phase.
According to Ms. Karen Baguhin, the officer in-charge of the program, “success comes with sacrifice,”adding that “the whole duration of the program might be long but the lessons and training that they would receive would give them a better chance at landing a good job.”
The type of jobs included are entry level such as waiter, cashier, sales associate, call center agents, and many more. The first batch of the orientation and phase 1 of the program will start on July 24 to August 4 while the second batch is on August 7-18. The graduation is set on August 18, 2017.
