Fifteen year old Jan Fhore Andrey Cagalitan of Pantukan National High School beats ten (10) contestants from all schools division in Davao Region during the recently-held PopQuiz at the Regional Festival of Talents at the Buhangin Central Elementary School on November 24, 2017.
This year’s quiz focuses on the Population Education core messages and key concepts on: (1) family life and responsible parenthood; (2) gender and development; (3) population and reproductive health; and (4) population, environment, resources and sustainable development.
“Dako kayo akoang pasalamat nga nasuklian ang tanan kahago ug pagbilar. Dako kayo nga garbo para kanamo nga ang ComVal ang mo-represent sa national competition. Akoang paningkamotan nga mauli namo ang championship pud sa nasyonal! (I am very grateful that all my hard work and sleepless nights were rewarded. It is our pride that ComVal will represent Davao Region in the national competition. I will do my very best to bring home the championship in the national competition!)”, exclaims Jan.
In second place is 16-year old Freziel Ann Darong of Sto. Tomas National High School, followed by 15-year old Hannah Kate Cueva of Digos City National High School in third place. The regional champion shall compete in the National Festival of Talents – PopQuiz come February 2018 in Dumaguete City.
The Department of Education – Region XI (DepEd XI), through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD, in partnership with the Commission on Population – Region XI (POPCOM – Region XI) conducts the Regional Festival of Talents (RFOT) annually. This year’s theme is – “Pagkilala sa Kulturang Filipino Tungo sa Kapayapaan, Pagkakaisa at Pagbabago”.
Also conducted during the Regional Festival of Talents are contests on: Essay Writing; Poster Making; Jingle Making and Singing and the first-ever Round Table Argumentation and Debate.
