On holiday caroling Sara wants better conditions for IPs

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio directed the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) to coordinate with Councilor Berino Mambo-o, representative of the indigenous communities in the city council, in crafting a better way to cater to the indigenous peoples who will make their usual visit and caroling to the city for the holidays.
She said the CSWDO and Mambo-o’s office will take the lead role in taking good care of the lumads who are coming to the city in December.
Duterte-Carpio recalled that despite the effort of the local government to bring food and gifts to the IPs in the mountains last year, many among them still took the effort to come down to the city proper to beg for Christmas gifts.
She told Mambo-o to assess the situation since he knows better the attitude and habits of the tribes.
“Mambo-o and the CSWDO must work together to attend to the needs of the IPs, especially during the Christmas season,” said the mayor along with her assurance of full support to reaching out activities for the IPs.
She ordered the city tourism office to organize the Pasko Fiesta activity which will feature a parade of lights (Lamdag Parada) as one of the leading highlights.
The mayor said all such activities are designed to make the holidays festive and meaningful for all Dabawenyos. PIA 11/ Joey Sem G. Dalumpines
