Villa-Abrille tops YMCA elections

Lawyer Leoncio “Nonoy” P. Villa-Abrille , a national leader of the Jaycees Senate, Rotary International and Ambassador Club International, topped the election of directors of the YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) of Davao during the association’s 41st annual corporate meeting at the YMCA multi-purpose hall last Saturday.
Villa-Abrille is a member of the current board of directors and officers whose incumbent president (for two years now) is lawyer Antonio “Ony” B. Partoza Jr.
Others who made it to the board aside from Villa-Abrille, were Partoza, lawyer Ricardo V. Villegas,  Jose B. Custodio, retired Regional Trial Court  judge Jose B. Lopez and Edge Davao editor Antonio M. Ajero.
Buddy Mark C. Salonga won as youth director. The elected directors were proclaimed by Director Pablo R. Gonzales Jr., election committee chairman.
The newly elected and reelected members of the board and incumbent officers will hold a joint meeting on October 30 to choose the new set of officers to serve 2012-2013, according to Ms Sylvia Piedad, chapter executive secretary.
YMCA Davao has a total of 295  men and women members of good standing.
Before the elections, President Partoza made his report to the assembly, followed by the report of Corporate Treasurer Ricardo Villegas.
The proposed amendment to the chapter’s  Constitution to bar incumbent members of the board from running for reelection was disapproved by the assembly. However, it unanimously approved  the change of month of the annual corporate  meeting and election of YMCA directors from September to October, provided that if the meeting does not push through in October, it will be postponed to November.
