Zamora lauds ok of state college bill

By Anthony S. Allada

Compostela Valley first district Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora lauded the Senate committee on education and culture for its swift approval last Oct. 9 of House Bill No. 4586 for the establishment of Compostela Valley State College (CVSC).
“I thanked Senators Edgardo Angara and Loren Legarda for the swift passage of the bill in the Senate committee. This is a milestone for Comvaleños. I hope the bill will be considered by the Senate for plenary deliberations and approval soonest,” Zamora said.
Zamora lobbied for the immediate passage of the bill in view of the Commission on Higher Education’s rationalization scheme of amalgamating state universities and colleges (SUCs) by creating regional state university systems.
“This will ensure Compostela Valley’s equitable representation in an amalgamated set-up,” she said.
Another bill is also pending with the Senate committee, HB No. 5311, sponsored by Davao City third district Rep. Isidro Ungab, proposing to create a Davao Regional State University System (DRSUS) by incorporating therein as constituent units the existing SUCs in the Davao region. ASA
