GenSanCity ‘No plate, no travel’ crackdown

Police in General Santos City are intensifying their crackdown against violators of the “no plate, no
travel” policy as part of the renewed implementation of Oplan Sikpaw within the city.
Senior Supt. Froilan Quidilla, acting city police director, said
police teams are currently holding random checkpoints in
various parts of the city to apprehend motorists who are using
unlicensed or unregistered motorcycles and other motor vehicles.
He said they are also checking local motorists who are driving
without license and for possible violations of traffic
regulations.
“I directed all our field units to make daily apprehension of
violators,” Quidilla said.
Since the crackdown started two weeks ago, the police official said
they already netted around some 60 motorcycle drivers for various
violations.
Motorcycles apprehended are impounded at the city police headquarters in Camp Fermin Lira.
Quidilla said he ordered the immediate issuance of traffic offense
tickets to prevent “negotiations” between violators and apprehending police officers.
The seized vehicles will be released after compliance by their owners with traffic regulations and
settlement of their penalties.
The crackdown was launched to counter the rising cases of traffic accidents involving motorcycles,
motorcycle thefts and their use in criminal activities.
“The bigger picture here is to resolve the criminal activities
