“We have offered livelihood projects for Pablo victims, but instead, they want to have their houses built first.”
This was the take of senatorial candidate Cynthia Villar in an interview yesterday at the Grand Men Seng Hotel here during the Philippine Councilors League North Cotabato Assembly.
She said that if she makes it to the senate, she would prioritize housing projects for the victims in Compostela Valley province and Davao Oriental.
“Senator Manny Villar has already given appropriations in order to start building houses in Pablo-hit areas, ‘yun ang hinihingi nila e’,” Mrs. Villar explained, adding that livelihood projects would commence after the asked-for houses are built.
She also commented on the barricade at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office 11 in Davao City.
“I was really wondering why these Pablo victims were able to come to Davao City when in fact they are from Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental. They just came here to destroy a government building and forcibly get the relief goods? I guess we need to know who transported them here,” she added.
Villar added that people should know where the finances of the activists came from and who informed them about the relief goods that is stored in the DSWD office.
“I won’t be surprised if they ransack DSWD office in ComVal or Davao Oriental, because this people are claiming that they are residents from those places, but why Davao City?,” she said.
The senatorial candidate said she is happy that the people getting her message and believe in her intentions.
She said that she would continue to provide livelihood projects to generate more jobs for people to be able to provide money for education, medicine and for their living. “We teach them how to fish, we don’t give them fish,” Villar added.
