DCPO: No SITG for Chua’s death

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) clarified that it did not create a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to conduct a probe on the death of the slain son of a businesswoman linked to the death of hotel magnate Richard King.
This came after reports that SITG was created to intensify the investigation on the death of Wilbur Reagan Jo Chua, son of King’s business partner Helen Chua.
DCPO Spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Milgrace Driz said that the authorities created an investigation team on the city level who will investigate on Chua’s death thoroughly.
“As of now, we already have an investigation team, but if there is a need to formulate an SITG then we will create one,” Driz said.
The officer also said that based on their initial investigation the killing of Chua is leading them to a case that is drug-related.
However, Driz stressed that they are also investigating on other angles like personal conflicts.
“Sa imbestigasyon namin, parang papunta sa drug related na kaso pero we are still digging deeper on our investigation,” she said.
On March 13, the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) conducted a Bullet trajectory examination and engine stencil on Chua’s car.
SOCO recovered another two deformed slug inside his vehicle.
Last March 17, Sta. Ana Police Station Commander Police Senior Inspector Ronald Lao conducted an investigation on another witness who allegedly saw the gunman.
The witness is a taxi driver, who were at the crime scene during the killing. He described the perpetrators who were riding in tandem to be “small, thin and between 35-45 years old.”
Chua 33, was shot dead inside his parked car at Mabini Street, Thursday evening. Police recovered a .45 calibre pistol, .22 barrett pistol, a sachet of shabu and huge amount of cash.
Driz said that the .22 barrett pistol of Chua do not have a license and the victim was already been confined on a rehabilitation center due to his drug addiction.
