City to give P1-M aid to DavNor for Palaro

The Davao City Government will give a P1-million assistance to the Davao del Norte Provincial Government for the coming Palarong Pambansa 2015 that will be hosted by the province next month.
In an interview late Monday afternoon at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte told reporters the fund will serve as aid for the expenses of the annual sporting event.
Duterte said the assistance will be drawn from the special education fund since the Palarong Pambansa is sanctioned by the Department of Education (Deped).
Aside from the assistance, Davao City will also provide additional security forces to Tagum City to secure the events and the delegates.
“For our security augmentation, we do not need the organizers to shoulder the expenses. We take care of our own men,” Duterte said.
“Within my jurisdiction, ako na ang bahala sa mga tao ko (I will take care of the needs of my men),” he added.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Senior Superintendent Vicente D. Danao Jr. had earlier said his men will augment the security force of the Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office during the games.
Danao said the DCPO will allocate around 30 personnel from different police stations in the city. The augmentation force will be deployed in Tagum City by next week.
Danao said aside from providing security augmentation, the DCPO will also provide tight security in Davao City since majority of the delegates from Luzon and the Visayas will pass through the Francisco Bangoy International Airport.
He said the DCPO will also implement strict checkpoints going to Davao del Norte to ensure the safety of the delegates during the weeklong event.
