TF on dangerous items split into three teams

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte on Monday split into three the task force that regulates the handling, transport or sale – either by individuals or entities – of flammable and dangerous chemicals and other hazardous and toxic substances in the city.

Under amended Executive Order No. 29, Mayor Inday split the task force into Inspection Team, Prosecution Team and Information/Advocacy Team to make the task force more efficient in its mandated task.

The task force was empowered to conduct inventory, monitor compliance, and inspections of all persons and entities handling and/or engaged in business involving flammable and dangerous chemicals and other hazardous and toxic substance, with emphasis on those involved with liquefied petroleum gases (LPG).

Under the amended EO, the multi-agency task force remains chaired by Mayor Inday and currently co-chaired by City Administrator Zuleika Lopez.

The heads of the City Legal Office, Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Traffic and Transportation Management Office (CTTMO), City Health Office, City Information Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Public Security and Safety Communications Center, Central 911/ Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were mandated members of the task force.

It also counts as members the head of the City Planning and Development Office, the Liga ng Barangay, Davao City Police Office, Bureau of Fire, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Energy, Land Transportation Office, Environmental Management Bureau and Philippine Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association.

Mayor Inday, however, encouraged that alternate-permanent members to the task force will be named by the heads or chief of offices concerned to ensure prompt and continuous performance of their duties and functions. CIO
