SPMC to host course on internal medicine

The Southern Philippines Medical Center will hold a two-day course on internal medicine on September 1-2 to further equip doctors and nurses in addressing issues related to the elderly.

The course is titled: Lo La Land: Navigating the challenges of Elderly People.

Dr. Charlie Clarion, chief resident of the SPMC said the organizers have initially invited speakers from Singapore. But due to advisory from their government that barred them from travelling to Mindanao in a state of Martial Law, the speakers have begged off from travelling to Davao City.

This convention will be attended by 400 Doctors and 50 Nurses all over Mindanao.

In their place, the SMC sought out alternative speakers who are also experts in the field of medicine. There are 24 resource speakers coming not only in Mindanao but also from the Visayas and Luzon.

There will be an onsite registration of P1500 per participant this will include their lunch, morning and afternoon snacks and the convention kits during the entire duration of the event.

Having this convention will make doctors and nurses equipped with more knowledge which will help them do their job properly, he said.

With approximately 100 elderly patients that the Southern Philippines Medical Center caters, this will truly improve the services that the hospital offers. By attending this convention the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units shall be given to the participanst which is a requirement for the renewal of their Professional Regulation Commission IDs.
