Davao art exhibit to show Chinese, Western paintings

Art lovers are in for a treat as the “Chan Lim, Family of Artists and Students ” exhibit has made it back in Davao City, for the 5th time.

The event is billed as the biggest exhibit of Chinese and Western Paintings.

Following the exhibition kick-off on Saturday, a free art workshop was held by the Members of the Chan Lim family, where guests and several mall goers were taught the basics of the Chinese art form of water-color painting.

The clan of artists holds free art workshops from time to time to encourage more people to go back to the basics and consider painting as their family bonding , explore their potentials, and unlock the artistic bone in everyone.

This year’s exhibit consists of 300 artworks, from 40 contributors mainly from the Chan Lim Siblings—Alex, Felix, Rolex and Jolex, and the Chan Lim Studio students.

The Chan Lim Family of Artist and Students prepares new set of artworks, and ideas evolving from their materials year after year, painting on lanterns, fans, plates, scrolls, and others.

Alex Lim, one of the mentors and contributors of the exhibit said that their Clan is delighted to be a part of Davao City’s emerging art industry, and welcomes the idea of collaborating with some of the city’s visual art practitioners.

The Chan Lim Mid-Autumn Art Exhibit is up and open for the public at SM Lanang Premier until September 16.
