Police Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa wants to bring volunteers from the Davao City Police to replace 1,200 relieved Caloocan City policemen.
“I want to prove to the nation that we have the best policemen in Davao City,” said Dela Rosa during the 3rd Quarterly Executive Officers national board Meeting of the Philippine Councilor’s League on September 19, Tuesday at the SMX-Lanang.
Dela Rosa said he had no idea how many Davao City police officers and personnel will be transferred to Caloocan City Police Station. But he made it clear he was prioritizing volunteers from the DCPO.
He said he wanted to get as many Davao policemen who will volunteer before he recruits from the other regions.
Dela Rosa said he will consult first with the Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte- Carpio.
Dela Rosa said that he is certain that the Davao Police has high standards and he wants to import that standard in Caloocan. National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Director Oscar Albayalde ordered the relief of those police officers following the latest controversy involving its members to illegal incidents.
“Not all of them are bad, gamay lang ang dautan, nadamay lang ang uban,” said Dela Rosa. The relieved police officers will undergo re-training and after the training they will be assigned to different units in the country.
In his speech, he said that the Davao City Police has a different standard and he is not implying that all police in Caloocan are bad. “Siguro sa 1000 nasa 50 lang o maka mababa pa,” said Dela Rosa. He agrees with PCL that the promotion of general welfare and the delivery of basic services to the barangay are better achieved by and through a genuine effective and productive local autonomy and development of self-reliance. “ Nais kong samantalahain ang pagkakataong ito upang muling ipalaganap ang ating pambansang layunin at puspusang kampanya sa krimen, droga at katiwalian na matagal ng nagpapahirap sa ating bayan,” said Dela Rosa.
He said the Philippine National Police has been monitoring all the cities especially in Luzon due to the rampant drug cases. The relieved police officers shall undergo re-training to ensure the quality of service they will provide to the public.
He said that although there are only a few police officers involved in illegal incidents, the PNP is taking the issue seriously by addressing the issue immediately after careful assessment.
