To reunite families separated during the conflict in Marawi City, the International Committee of the Red Cross is continuously intensifying its operations and has already set up 12 welfare desks in evacuation centers, both in Marawi and Iligan city.
According to ICRC, Families with missing relatives may approach any of their welfare desk and can also access their recently established online platform [https://familylinks.icrc.org/Philippines] to file their requests and or help them track missing persons.
Besides this, ICRC have been providing technical and material in support to the authorities handling casualties in the conflict area.
ICRC Head and Sub-delegate of Mindanao, Robert Petronio said, once a missing person is located, ICRC provides financial support for their families in Marawi to fly and see their displaced relatives from different locations in the country for 2-3 times a year.
To date, the organization has already received a total of 402 tracing request in which 179 cases are still being looked into and has provided psychosocial support to over 10,400 victims of the conflict.
“The ICRC is a neutral, impartial and independent humanitarian organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance,” as clarified by ICRC.
