Sara bares P5M aid for Marawi rehab

The Davao City has approved the release of P5Million to help in the rehabilitation of Marawi City.

The assistance is in response to a resolution approved by the City of Marawi declaring itself a calamity area.

“We hope it could help make a difference,” said Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, adding that it is the duty of Dabawenyos to help their countrymen in Marawi.
The city council has approved the financial assistance to Marawi on Nov. 7, Tuesday. This fund was taken from the P96Million left in the budget for the quick response calamity fund of the city.

This financial assistance will be in the form of check which will be given to the local government of Marawi as soon as possible

“ We  still have balance of P96 million so we took 5 million from it so what is left now is 91 million, this is in relation to request of the Office of Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio endorsed to us (City Council|),” said Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chairman of the committee of finance, ways and means.

All the councilors approved the financial assistance without hesitation. “There was no long discussion regarding this matter because the council understands the wisdom of the mayor,” he said.

Dayanghirang ensured the citizens of Davao that there are still enough funds for the city. “If you still remember we still have few days more for 2017, so there will be a new budget again for 2018,” he said.
