FIRE of still unknown origin burned down yesterday the giant NCCC Mall at the corner of McArthur Highway and Ma-a Road in Matina, Davao City.

The blaze reportedly started at about 9:23 a.m. or just a few minutes before the mall, one of the biggest in this city, could open its doors to morning customers. Until past 5 p.m. yesterday, the fire was still raging. The fire reportedly started at the third floor, or the fourth floor, but nobody can be sure about it, since fire and arson investigators could not proceed with their probe as the fire was still in progress at about 9:30 p.m, or after close to 12 hours.

A  few minutes before 10p.m. Saturday night, President Duterte arrived near the fire scene to talk to relatives of the trapped employees. However, reporters where not allowed inside the holding aarea for relatives.

Minutes after, Vice Mayor Paolo Z. Duterte also arrived.

Said to be still alive in the rest rooms of the call center are the following (only partial): Alexandria  Moreno, Jessica Solis,  Iana Apalacio, Christine Ferraren, Jeffrey Sisman, Mhenzi Muyco, Charlene Linaya,

Lister Entera,  Janine Ozo, Jonas Basalan, Ian Adlanan, Joyce Pabelonia, Maricris Gayol, Mary Joy Daluro,

Nancy Abad, Desiree Zacarias, Ivan Nebelle L. Roble, Jim Quimsing, Analiza Penamjo,  Artiaga (first name not available), Anji Celestial II, Rosil Chavez Montanez,  Matondo (first name not available), Alviola (first name not available).

Firefighting units from the neighboring cities of Panabo, Tagum and Digos also arrived in Davao City to help fight the fire.
