Man drowns in bid to cross Davao river

A man was fished off the Davao river on Friday after he drowned while trying to cross the river on a banca that eventually capsized.

His body was recovered floating along near the Bolton bride along River Side Barangay1-A at around 4:00 pm.

The victim was identified as Arnel Arcides Villamor’s, a 21-year old native of barangay Maniki Kapalong Davao de Norte but who was residing at SIR Davao City.

Police Officers 3  Herministo Galupe and Roland Muaña duty investigator were dispatched on board mobile 73 manned by PO1 Francis Sagusay to investigate.

Based on the information they gathered,  Villamor attempted to cross Davao River particularly at Magallanes River Side area in Davao City on November 30, Thursday. While he was crossing, his banca must have overturned leading to his drowning.

The family of the victim decided not to call the police and decided to bring his body to the Rivera Funeral Homes instead.
