Compostela Valley Gov. Jayvee Tyron L. Uy is now offering reward for the immediate arrest of the suspects on the murder of Punong Barangay Joselito Crizaldo,of Pasi-an, Monkayo which happened in the middle of the town’s celebration of their founding anniversary last week.
“In light of the recent event, we offer a bounty worth P300, 000 to whoever can point us to the killer and P500, 000 worth of cash to whoever can identify the mastermind of this crime,” Uy said in his released statement.
Monkayo Mayor Ramil Gentugaya said the motive of the killing of Crizaldo could be political since the latter has been fully supportive of his administration.
“The motive is clearly political as there is no other reason for someone to brutally take away the life of Punong Barangay Joselito Crizaldo who has clearly made his strong stand to support the current administration,” he said
The governor also asked the public to immediately report to the nearest police any information that could help them to identify the suspect and its mastermind on the killing of Crizaldo.
” If you have relevant information that can help us identify the killer and mastermind of this violent act, please do not hesitate to contact your nearest police stations,” the governor said.
Uy expressed his condemnation on the murder of the barangay captain saying the ‘dastardly act’ has no place in his province.
He assured everyone that the authorities are on top of the situation and that he is in constant coordination with Monkayo Mayor Ramil Gentugaya.
Uy also warned the people of his province to practice vigilance by asking them to report suspicious and highly irregular activities to designated authorities.
The mayor said the incident has brought tremendous grief to this municipality as Crizaldo is considered to be a good ally of his administration in its pursuit towards lasting peace and development. “Unity has paved way for great things for us Monkayoans, let us not let anyone ruin the gains we have sustained,” he said.
The local Government Unit of Monkayo strongly condemns the killing of Punong Barangay Joselito Bongolto Crizaldo of Brgy. Pasian, this municipality. We are deeply saddened and terribly disturbed that another person who has dedicated his life to public service has been brutally killed,” he said.
Gentugaya assured its commitment to uphold the interest of its citizenry for development and progress through a peaceful municipality. “We shall coordinate closely with the proper authorities to act swiftly in the investigation and to go after the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice,” he said.
Crizaldo, was gunned by two men who were onboard a motorcycle on the afternoon of September 4 at Matillosa Street in Barangay Poblacion in the said town. The Punong Barangay was about to go home after attending a program from their town’s founding anniversary when he was killed.
