DISOWNED   PDEA 11 says arrested soldier is not their agent

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 11 (PDEA 11) has denied that the arrested drug suspect former Scout Ranger identified as Levi B. Bawe is one of their agents.

Bawe, who is assigned in PDEA Regional Office 6, was arrested by police on Friday night.

PDEA 11 regional director Antonio Rivera said Monday the agency verified the information from the PDEA 6 as to the identity and activity of Bawe but his name was not found on the roster of personnel.

“Hence, as per report of PDEA Regional Office 6, he is not an employee of PDEA Regional Office 6, nor was ever used as a confidential informant,” he said.

Based in the investigation, Rivera said Bawe is the brother of former Barangay Captain Lester Bawe of Iloilo City who was arrested by PDEA 6 for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act on January 18 last year.

“Bawe also became a wanted person after he murdered his own brother and this is the reason behind why he was in hiding,” he said.

Rivera said his office will file a case of Usurpation of Public Authority against Bawe for claiming to be one of their agents.

Police report bared that Bawe was arrested through an operation launched by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Intelligence Branch, Task Force Davao and Police Regional Office 11 Intelligence Unit around 7:00 p.m. of October 19.

The suspect was arrested at Door No. 603, Olive leaf spa, Macopa St, Juna Subd in Matina through a warrant of arrest issued by Iloilo Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 6 Judge Guilale Lim with not bail recommended.

Bawe is classified a Top 3 Most Wanted Person in the Regional Level who has pending murder charges in Iloilo.
