Despite Mindanao’s marked economic improvement, Davao region needs more long term investors, an industry expert from a homegrown real estate development firm said.
Ricardo Lagdameo, vice president of Damosa Land Inc. said that with the continuous progress Mindanao is experiencing at the moment, he said that future investors should have an eye for more developments.
“We’re always seeking for long term investors. Some of the partners that we’ve worked with for decades,” Lagdameo said during the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Philippines Davao Study Tour at the NCCC Mall Buhangin.
Among the topics discussed were commercial and office opportunities in the city and the Davao Region and the future of investing in Davao.
Prior to the forum, ULI Philippines hosted the two-day tour wherein members get to explore Davao City.
The tour was hosted by the New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC) and the Damosa Land Inc.
Lagdameo also said he want to see more diversified industries in Davao.
“We hope to bring more investors who are more into the manufacturing, agricultural, also more BPOs (Business process outsourcings),” Lagdameo said.
He said that with this, more jobs would be created.
Meanwhile, Damosa’s real estate arm, Anflo Investment and Management Corp. (Anflocor) is set to start its physical construction of the University of the Philippines – Professional School for Agriculture and the Environment (UP-PSAE) early 2019.
The 88-hectare mixed used Agriya complex is in partnership with the University of the Philippines – – Los Baños (UPLB), and will be constructed in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
UP-PSAE is expected to strengthen the agriculture sector as well as help UP Mindanao in Davao City and other state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Davao Region with the development of research and academic programs.
“Mindanao is the food basket in the Philippines,” he added, “It would be fitting that there would be a world class agriculture and institution in Mindanao.”
