
The Davao City Police Office has laid out a tight multi-layered security blanket for two of the major events in the 37th Kadayawan Festival namely “Pamulak” and “Indak-Indak.”
Major Ma. Teresita Gaspan, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said there are about 5,000 security forces from different security units that will be deployed in various activities.
“Aduna kitay kapulisan, Task Force Davao ug other security forces. Naa pod tay mga force multipliers, atong auxiliary ug other law enforcement nga mutabang sa atua. Meron din tayong augmentation from Police Regional Office 11 nga mo-provide pod ug security,” Gaspan said during the AFP-PNP Press Corps media briefing on Wednesday.
Gaspan added that the DCPO will still implement a multi-layered security blanket on land, air, and sea during the major events in Davao City.
“Inner layer, kadto gyud mismo anaa sa sulod sa mga activity area,” she said.
She reiterated that carrying backpacks, jackets, firearms, and pointed objects inside the activity areas are still prohibited. The use of drones without permission from the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) is also prohibited.
Meanwhile, DCPO conducted a send-off ceremony of the various security and safety clusters for the 37th Kadayawan sa Davao festival held at the DCPO Parade Ground, Camp Domingo E Leonor, San Pedro St. Davao City on Thursday.
These security forces include the Philippine Coast Guard, Task Force Davao, City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), and Community Volunteer Task Force (CVTF).
They will provide area security to ensure the safety of both Davaoeños and tourists who will be witnessing the face-to-face Kadayawan Festival.
Leading the ceremony was Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) head Angel Sumagaysay, who represented Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte.
