
Over 1,000 families affected by the recent flash flood in Davao City’s First District received relief assistance from the Office of the First Congressional District Representative Paolo Z. Duterte on February 22, 2023.
Rep. Duterte’s staff has provided emergency food packages to flood victims in Barangays 2-A, 5-A, 8-A, 9-A, 10-A, 19-B, Matina Gravahan, and Maa.
In a statement, Rep. Duterte assured that all victims were given appropriate assistance.
On the evening of February 21, 2023, several barangays in the city were flooded while authorities ordered them to evacuate after severe storms forced 1,093 families, or 4,300 individual, to evacuate their homes due to the rising river levels.
The city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has issued water level warnings for some of the city’s rivers. The Davao, Lasang, and Bunawan rivers were classified as red, while the Talomo and Matina rivers were classified as orange.
Davao City, Davao del Norte, and Davao Oriental experienced moderate to heavy rain on February 21 that caused flooding in various barangays.
However, no one has been reported injured or missing in the incident.
