The city government of Davao on Wednesday morning dispatched 16 truckloads of humanitarian assistance to Cebu Province, which was recently hit by Typhoon Tino.
According to the city government, the convoy, carrying thousands of food packs, bottled water, essential supplies and medicines, represents the collective support of the people of Davao for their fellow Filipinos in need.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Head Alfredo Baloran, said the 16 trucks contain 3,915 large food packs, 2,000 bottles of water, and essential medicines.
“Ang city government of Davao maghatod na pud ta ug hinabang didto sa dakbayan sa Sugbu tungod sa nahitabo nga bagyo. Naa tay mga dala nga welfare goods ug personal necessity sa atong mga kaigsoonan nga affected,” Baloran said.
Baloran added that in addition to the relief items, the city government is extending P3.9 million in financial assistance to Cebu Province, including Bogo City and eight other municipalities, which sustained heavy damage from the 6.9 earthquake last month.
He said the team is expected to arrive in Cebu by 7 a.m. on Thursday, with city officials urging the public to join in prayers for a safe and successful relief operation.
Baloran said this latest deployment follows Davao City’s earlier humanitarian mission to Cebu last month, when the city sent aid to earthquake-hit areas in the province.
