Baste orders stronger safety measures for holiday season

Acting City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte led the fourth-quarter meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) on Friday underscoring the city government of Davao’s push to strengthen public safety ahead of the holiday season.

The meeting, which is held quarterly to evaluate Davao City’s peace and order situation and refine strategies to protect residents, was attended by representatives from the city’s safety and security cluster and various government agencies.

During the session, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) acting director Col. Mannan Muarip presented the city’s crime statistics and police operations from January to December 2025.

He also reported on focused police operations, weekly crime trends, and accomplishments under SACLEO.

Muarip outlined police activities from October 1 to December 2, 2025, including updates on the 8 Focus Crimes, Oplan RATS Tugis, Oplan Lakad Mo Patrol Mo, Eye in the Sky surveillance, anti-terrorism operations, and border security under Oplan Transporter.

He said the DCPO is ramping up police presence and preventive efforts through OPLAN: D.A.V.A.O. and other anti-crime initiatives for the Pasko Fiesta 2025 celebrations.

Meanwhile, DCPO reported that it conducted a series of intensified operations from November 23 to 29, 2025, leading to the arrest of 68 individuals for various offenses under four focused directives.

During the week, DCPO stated the the police launched 37 anti-illegal drug operations, arresting 41 suspects and confiscation of 1,388.9302 grams of illegal drugs worth P9.44 million and 3.92 grams of marijuana valued at P470.

In the campaign against illegal gambling, seven operations were conducted, leading to the arrest of seven individuals and the seizure of P1,395 in bet money wherein seven cases were filed.

DCPO also held 33 operations targeting wanted persons, which led to the arrest of 16 individuals, including 17 listed as most wanted.

DCPO also reported that nine operations against loose firearms resulted in the arrest of four suspects, seized of four firearms, five surrendered firearms, and filing of three cases.

Muarip said the results reflect the police force’s ongoing effort to safeguard the city, supported by community members and barangay officials.

He also said that the accomplishments demonstrate the commitment of DCPO personnel to maintain peace and order while observing human rights and proper police procedures.
