Police visibility and emergency response capabilities in Davao City are set to improve following the turnover of 32 mobile patrol pickups and three response vans worth P77 million from the city government of Davao to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on Friday at the City Hall grounds.

The newly issued mobility assets will allow police units to respond faster to incidents, intensify crime prevention operations, and strengthen security not only in urban centers but also in the city’s border areas.

“This support reflects the city’s dedication to empowering our police force with the tools they need to protect and serve. By strengthening the capability of DCPO, we are also strengthening the safety and confidence of our citizens. The city government will continue to stand behind our law enforcers in their mission to maintain peace and order,” said acting Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte in his message read by lawyer Jonah Margarette F. Presto, Deputy Chief of Staff of the City Mayor’s Office (CMO).

The fleet includes seven units of 4×4 four-door pickup patrol vehicles, 25 units of 4×2 two-door pickup patrol vehicles, and three Toyota Commuter response vans.

In addition to the vehicles, the DCPO received 600 raincoats donated by Goldenville Development and Resources Corporation, ensuring police personnel remain operational even during adverse weather conditions.

According to Duterte, equipping the police with modern and reliable resources is vital to maintaining peace and order.

He stressed that enhancing the operational capability of the DCPO also strengthens public trust and the overall safety of Dabawenyos.

Meanwhile, DCPO acting Director Col. Mannan Muarip accepted the additional resources, noting that the new vehicles and equipment will play a crucial role in improving mobility, police presence, and service delivery across the city.

“The DCPO will always be grateful for the city’s unwavering support. These resources will greatly enhance our operational capability and allow us to respond more effectively to the needs of our community. Rest assured that the DCPO will maximize these assets to strengthen police visibility, improve mobility, and ensure the safety and security of our people,” Muarip said.

Muarip emphasized that the turnover underscores the continuing partnership between the city government of Davao and the DCPO in ensuring a safe, secure, and responsive environment for residents and visitors alike.
