The city government of Davao, through the Business Bureau, has ordered the immediate closure of Green GSM Philippines Taxi at its Davao Depot in JFM Sasa Property after the company launched its all-electric taxi service without securing the necessary local permits and clearances.

A closure sticker is being posted on the company’s gate.

Green GSM officially launched its service on December 15, promoting a cleaner and more sustainable taxi option for the city.

However, the city government of Davao emphasized that environmental initiatives do not exempt companies from compliance with local laws.

According to the city government of Davao, Green GSM has yet to secure a business permit, locational clearance, building permit, and the required recommendation from the City Transport and Traffic Management Board (CTTMB) and the Sangguniang Panlungsod for its franchise application with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Davao (LTFRB-Davao).

“Until all required permits are fully obtained and complied with, their operations are considered illegal,” the city said.

The city also stressed that companies bypassing regulations will not be tolerated in Davao City.

In a separate advisory, LTFRB-Davao reminded Green GSM of its obligations to comply with all requirements before operating as an air-conditioned electric vehicle (EV) taxi service.

The agency noted that securing all clearances, including those mandated by the Davao City Government, is a prerequisite for obtaining a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC).

“Green and Smart Mobility Philippines Inc. has been duly informed of its obligations to comply with all applicable requirements before it can legally operate as a public utility transport provider in the city,” LTFRB-Davao said.

The agency also reiterated its call for all Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) operators and CPC applicants to adhere to both national and local regulations, highlighting the importance of safe and lawful transport operations.

The city government of Davao has urged LTFRB-Davao and the Land Transportation Office 11 (LTO 11) to investigate Green GSM’s operations, reinforcing the city’s commitment to regulatory compliance.

“Companies may choose to bypass regulations elsewhere, but such behavior will not be allowed in Davao City,” the statement concluded.
