Motorcycles rolled out to Davao City’s barangays to strengthen security

Fifty-four barangays in Davao City received new motorcycles on Thursday in a move aimed at strengthening peace and order initiatives and enhancing emergency response at the community level with turnover led by Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte II, and Puwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat (PPP) Party-list Representative Harold Duterte, at the People’s Park.

Barangay officials from the city’s First District received a total of 54 motorcycles, consisting of 27 Honda XRM-125 units and 27 Honda XR-150 units.

Rep. Pulong said the motorcycles are intended to improve mobility for barangay personnel, allowing quicker response to emergencies and more efficient peace and order patrols.

He emphasized that empowering barangays with reliable equipment is key to maintaining safety across the city.

“Kining tabang para sa atong mga barangay usa ka pahinumdom nga kanunay ta magbinantayon sa pagpanalipod sa katawhan. Kung lig-on ang barangay, lig-on usab ang syudad,” Rep. Pulong said.

He added that the goal is to ensure faster response times and safer communities.

Barangay 8-A Captain James Abadilla said the motorcycles will be assigned to barangay tanods for regular roving and monitoring activities.

He described the assistance as a timely boost to local security efforts, especially during the holiday season when barangay visibility is crucial.

Barangay Talomo Captain Rene Alexis Villarente, the motorcycles address a long-standing challenge in reaching interior areas of the community.

He said many streets and alleyways are inaccessible to four-wheeled vehicles, often delaying response to incidents.

“With these motorcycles, our responders can reach emergencies much faster,” Villarente said.

He also noted that the units will be used for both peace and order patrols and emergency situations, including monitoring disturbances and responding to criminal activity.
