Ayala Malls Abreeza is investing about P2.5 billion for a major expansion that will add new retail floors, BPO offices, and open spaces, strengthening its footprint in Davao City’s growing commercial landscape.
Janice Parreño, general manager of the mall, said on Friday that the expansion will include three additional retail levels and two more floors dedicated to business process outsourcing (BPO) offices and open areas.
Parreño said the project will generate around 15,000 square meters of additional gross leasable area (GLA), equivalent to about 5,000 square meters per floor.
Parreño stressed that the investment covers the expansion alone and is separate from the ongoing refresh of the main mall.
The new wing is targeted to open in 2028.
Parreño said the expansion site covers nearly one hectare, which explains the temporary road closure in the area as it forms part of the development.
“Board piling and land preparation have already been completed, with full construction scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026,” Parreño said during Business Matters media forum.
Ahead of the new wing’s completion, Abreeza has started a large-scale refresh of its existing mall, also launched in 2026.
The renovation includes basement upgrades, retiling, relighting, and improvements in common areas to enhance customer comfort. The mall is also rezoning tenant spaces to introduce new retail concepts.
Parreño assured shoppers that boarded-up sections inside the mall are part of the renovation process.
“These are all part of our refresh, and we will be bringing in new concepts,” she said.
A key feature of the refresh is the transformation of the Roof Garden into an indoor-outdoor space with a new overhead canopy. The mall is also introducing Kantinas, an air-conditioned food hall that will bring together popular food brands from Davao, Cebu, and other parts of the Philippines.
As part of the expansion and refresh, Abreeza is welcoming global brands making their Mindanao debut, including Hoka, Maison Margiela, and Sofeyia Home. Foot Locker will open its first Davao branch, while Flying Tiger Copenhagen, Oakley, and Bandai Gashapon are also set to open stores.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2026, Abreeza said the upgrades and expansion serve as a gesture of appreciation to Dabawenyos who have supported the mall since it opened in 2011.
“With all the refesh, with all the new stores, with all the marketing events this is really our thank you to Dabawenyos for Abreeza has been warmly embraced by the Davao community,” Parreño said.
With added retail space, new international brands, and upcoming BPO offices, Abreeza is positioning itself to capture rising consumer demand and office leasing opportunities, reinforcing its role as a key commercial and lifestyle hub in Mindanao.
